Beating the Bushes

A native of Hollywood, California, Kurt Stone started acting on stage at age five. He has done "voice-overs" for radio, starred in musicals, and appeared in the 1968 Clint Eastwood movie "Coogan's Bluff."

Since 1976, Mr. Stone has toured the world with his one-man show "Teatime with Sholom Aleichem." He has starred as the "Father of Yiddish Literature" over 650 times. Stone tells the story of "his" life - both Solomon Rabinowitz the man and Sholom Aleichem the writer. His uncanny characterization of "The Jewish Mark Twain" earned him a position on the Advisory Board of the Sholom Aleichem Foundation in New York, an appointment he shares with Nobel Laureates Elie Weisel and Saul Bellow. Stone has also appeared as the Victorian writer Israel Zangwill, whose popularity amongst British readers was only surpassed by Charles Dickens and Anthony Trollope.

Mr. Stone has begun work on a one-man show in which he will appear as Dr. Sigmund Freud.
